Teeth Whitening in Shyam Nagar

Looking after your teeth and gums is the key to keeping your smile white, healthy and bright. Teeth whitening is a way of lightening the colour of your natural teeth and, in doing so, making your smile more attractive.

Several factors can cause your teeth to lose their natural brightness over time. These include:

  • natural changes in the colour of your dentine (the inner part of your teeth) as you get older
  • a diet, rich in food and drink with strong colourings, such as carrots, oranges, chocolate, tea, coffee, and wine
  • smoking, which can make your teeth appear yellow
  • tartar (plaque that builds up and hardens on your teeth, usually as a result of poor tooth-brushing habits)
  • tooth fillings used for root canal treatments
  • medicines such as antibiotics when your teeth are developing

With teeth whitening, there’s no need to remove the hard coating (enamel) that protects your teeth, as whitening uses bleaching methods.

We will show you on a chart what shade of white your teeth will be by the end of the treatment. And we will give you an idea of how long it will take to achieve the desired results.
You will have impressions taken of your upper and lower teeth. We will use them to make plastic trays that fit your mouth. These will be used during the treatment to apply the bleaching product to your teeth. We will apply the bleaching gel to your teeth, also using a special blue light that enhances the whitening process giving immediate results. The appointment may take up to two hours.

Internal bleaching

Internal bleaching can help lighten the colour of teeth that have darkened as a result of a root canal treatment or this is when the blood vessels and nerves inside your tooth are replaced with a filling. During the process of internal bleaching, space will be made by removing previously placed cement in the tooth. The bleach will be placed in this space and will be treated as temporary cement, leaving the bleaching product inside the tooth.

You will need to come back to us after three to seven days to have the temporary filling and bleaching product changed. At each visit, we will also check whether the treatment is working. It may take several visits before the treatment is complete. Satisfactory results can be achieved after two to four visits. At this point, space is closed permanently with a tooth-coloured filling.

Conventional Metal Braces are now lighter in weight and structure than they used to be. They are made from a high-grade stainless steel and have metal brackets that are attached to each tooth using a type of cement. The brackets are linked to each other with a thin archwire using tiny elastics known as ligatures or o-rings. They put pressure on the teeth to cause them to move slowly into the correct position.
The braces are tightened regularly according to the progress and the ligatures are changed time to time.

Ceramic braces have brackets made of ceramic or porcelain, or in some cases plastic. They are the same size and shape as metal braces, except that they have tooth-colored or clear brackets that blend into teeth. Some even use tooth-colored wires to be even less noticeable.

Lingual braces are a great aesthetic alternative for those who want their teeth straightened, without the braces showing. They are placed behind the teeth (by the tongue and palate), rather than in front.

Lingual braces require customised brackets for which impression of the teeth is taken, which is then sent to a dental laboratory to create them.

Depending on the severity of a patient’s overcrowding of teeth or their bite the treatment can take anywhere from 18-36 months. Like traditional braces, this product works by applying gentle yet continuous pressure on the teeth, to help them slowly shift into proper position.

Invisalign is a clear alternative of straightening your teeth. In this treatment, clear, see-through and removable aligners which are used are specially crafted for your teeth.

The aligners will gradually cause your teeth to shift their position slightly over a period of two weeks. Every two weeks, you will change the aligners for a new set that will cause your teeth to move a little more. As the treatment progresses over the following weeks and months, your teeth will straighten into their proper positions.
